Your file never leaves this device. How that works

How to save a still picture from a video

STEP 1

Add the video

It opens in this tab and nothing is sent anywhere.

STEP 2

Find the frame

Pause on the moment, then use the buttons to move back or forward by one frame or one second.

STEP 3

Save this frame

Each press adds a picture to the list. Save them as PNG for the sharpest result or JPG for a smaller file.

Full size, and the exact frame

The picture is taken at the real size of the video, not the size of the player on your screen. A 1080p video gives a 1080p picture, which is sharper than a screenshot of the same moment.

Moving by one frame steps by a thirtieth of a second, which matches most videos. Some are recorded at 24 or 60 frames a second, so the step may land a little either side. Use the one second buttons to get close and the frame buttons to settle it.

PNG keeps every detail and is the better choice for text and screen recordings. JPG is smaller and suits photographs and ordinary footage.

Questions

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The work happens inside this tab, on your own machine. Open your browser's network tab while you use the tool, there is no request carrying your file.

Is there a file size limit?

None set by us. Very large files are limited only by your device's memory, and we warn you before that becomes a problem.

Do I need an account?

No, and there is no daily limit either. There is nothing to sign up for.

Is the picture the full size of the video?

Yes. It is taken at the video's own width and height.

Can I save more than one frame?

Yes. Every press of Save this frame adds another picture to the list.

Which format should I pick?

PNG for text and sharp edges, JPG for ordinary footage where a smaller file matters more.
