That means the thing you encoded, which is often a wifi password, a private link or a phone number, was handed to a company you know nothing about before you ever saw the code. Some of those sites also hand back a redirect rather than your actual link, which stops working the day they do.

Error correction is worth understanding. A QR code carries redundant data so it still scans when part of it is damaged or covered. Medium is right for most things, and the highest setting is for codes that will be printed and handled.

Save it with the highest error correction and place a logo over the centre in any image editor. Keep it under about a fifth of the width and test it before printing.
Because more text needs a bigger grid, and higher error correction adds more again. Shorten the text or lower the correction level for a simpler pattern.
Anyone who can see it can join that network, exactly as if you had written the password on the wall. For a guest network that is usually the point, but do not do it with your main one.
