Choose the change your file needs

Brodidit is for practical jobs such as preparing an application photo, assembling scanned documents or sharing part of a recording. Start with the receiving form or person’s requirements. File size, dimensions and format are separate checks, so one operation may not be enough.

A smaller file or a smaller picture?

Pixels describe width and height. Kilobytes describe how much storage a file uses. An 800 × 600 image can still exceed a 200 KB limit. Use Resize image for dimensions, Compress image to compare quality and size, or Compress to a size for a stated KB ceiling. Check the result dimensions too: the target-size tool may reduce them to fit.

A different format or a different background?

Convert format writes JPG, PNG or WebP. It does not remove the background or restore detail lost in an earlier save. JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent regions become white. Keep PNG when you need a transparent cutout, and use HEIC to JPG for an iPhone photo that the receiving service cannot open.

One PDF, fewer pages or fewer bytes?

Merge PDF joins existing PDFs in file order. Split PDF saves selected pages or a separate file for each page. Neither operation is PDF compression. Compress PDF redraws pages as images to reduce image-heavy files. Every compression preset removes searchable and selectable text, including Gentle. Keep a searchable original when the recipient needs to copy text or process a CV automatically.

A shorter recording or a smaller full recording?

Use Trim audio or Trim video when only part is needed. Use Compress video when you need the whole clip in fewer bytes. Video to MP3 saves the sound without the picture. Preview before cutting, then play the saved output to check its beginning, ending and sound.

One task, a few tools

These are illustrative examples, not official form requirements or measured compression results. Substitute the dimensions, limits and pages your recipient requests.

A photo requested at 800 × 600 and under 200 KB

Crop to a 4:3 shape so the subject will not stretch.
Resize to 800 × 600 pixels and save a copy.
If the copy is too large, open Compress to a size, choose the requested output format and a 200 KB target.
Check both the saved size and dimensions. If compression changed the dimensions, the result does not meet this example’s two requirements, even if it fits the byte limit.

Do not repeatedly resize a shrunken result back up. Return to the original and try another encoding setting, or ask the recipient for an alternative if both limits cannot be met legibly. Read the exact-pixel guide.

Six page photos and a two-page supporting PDF

Crop out unrelated papers and retake any page with unreadable text.
Use Image to PDF, choose A4 or Letter as appropriate, and use the arrows to arrange the six photos. Each photo becomes one page.
Open Merge PDF with the photo PDF first and the supporting PDF second.
Save merged.pdf and inspect all eight pages, not just a first-page preview.

If only part of the supporting file is needed, extract those pages before merging. Compression is optional and has a text-layer trade-off. Read the mixed PDF and photo guide.

A twenty-second section of a recorded demonstration

Open Trim video with a recording you have permission to share.
For a section from 01:10 to 01:30, set the start to 70 seconds and the end to 90 seconds.
Use Play this part to check the selection. Fast mode copies the streams, but the start can land earlier at a keyframe. Exact mode re-encodes for a more precise cut.
Save and replay the clip. Check for private messages, account details or unintended speech.

A shorter clip is not automatically below an attachment limit. Check the output size before sending it. Read the video cutting guide.

What local processing means here

The website downloads an interface and the code a tool needs. Your browser reads the file you choose, performs the operation and creates a result to save. The tools do not send the selected file’s contents to a processing server.

That is different from having no website connections. Hosting receives page requests, and Google advertising or configured measurement can make additional requests. The privacy policy explains those separately from document processing.

Some tools need processing assets before they can work offline. Browser caches can be cleared, and large jobs can exceed device memory. Keep originals and save results before closing the tab. Brodidit is not a cloud backup. How processing works.

Check what an edit does not remove

Photo metadata removal clears supported hidden fields, not a house number, face or reflection visible in the image. Likewise, extracting a statement page leaves the addresses and transactions printed on that page.

Sign PDF places a drawn, typed or uploaded image mark. It does not verify identity or create a certificate-based signature or audit trail. Ask the recipient which signing method they accept.

Inspect the exported copy, not only the preview. Rewriting PDFs can affect existing digital signatures and document features; image and video re-encoding can change detail. Keep the unedited version until you know the result is suitable.

Before you start

Which files can I use?

General image tools work with JPG, PNG and WebP. PDF tools expect PDFs unless their page says otherwise. Audio and video support depends on the selected tool and codec, not only the extension. Check its accepted inputs and output controls before starting. HEIC has a dedicated converter.

Why can a compressed copy be larger?

A source may already be efficient. Turning a compact text PDF into page pictures can add bytes; converting a photo to PNG can also increase its size. Compare the reported before and after sizes and keep the original when there is no useful saving.

Where is the result saved?

Use the tool’s Save link or download control. Your browser handles the destination according to its settings. A generated result still sitting in the page is not a saved backup. Closing the tab does not delete originals or downloads already on your device.

What if a form still refuses the file?

Check format, physical page count, pixel dimensions and byte size against the stated requirements. A filename ending in .jpg is not a format conversion. For a technical problem, send the tool URL, browser and error message to Contact, without attaching private files.
