How to use this practice
This is practice written for this site in the style of ACCA's constructed response questions. It is not an ACCA question and the marking points are not ACCA's marking scheme. It follows the AA syllabus on review and reporting.
Write your answer in the box under each requirement. Show your workings for calculations. Your text stays in this browser.
Afterwards, open the marking points and tick each point that your answer made clearly and only once. Points marked as figures are correct amounts.
Scenario
You are the audit manager for Zenith Co, which has a year end of 31 March 20X6. The financial statements show revenue of $60,000,000 and profit before tax of $3,000,000. Overall materiality was set at $300,000. The audit report is due to be signed on 20 June 20X6.
On 12 May 20X6, one of Zenith Co's customers went into liquidation. At 31 March 20X6 it owed $900,000, and the customer's finances had been poor since January 20X6. No allowance has been made for the debt. On 15 April 20X6, a lawsuit was filed against Zenith Co over a product recall that took place in February 20X6. Lawyers estimate that damages could be $1,200,000. Management has not made a provision and has not disclosed it, saying it will defend the case.
A bank loan of $3,500,000 is due for repayment on 30 September 20X6. At 31 March 20X6 the entity has net current liabilities, and negotiations with the bank about refinancing have not been concluded. Management has prepared the financial statements on the going concern basis and has not included any disclosure.
