How to use this practice

Scenario

You are the audit manager planning the audit of Noor Packaging for the year ended 31 March. The company manufactures packaging and is privately owned by a family. The following matters have been identified during planning.

A new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system was introduced in October, replacing the old accounting system, and some data was transferred manually. Inventory of $9 million includes a large amount of slow moving finished goods. A loan of $1.2 million was made in the year to a company owned by a director, and is unsecured. The directors' bonus depends on profit before tax, and last year there were a number of large sales entries in the last days of the year.

The firm also provides valuation and tax advice to Noor Packaging, and the fees for these services are 40% of the audit fee.
