How to use this practice

Scenario

Bilal is a sole trader who runs a small factory. He has no other income and is not a salaried person. For the tax year 2026 to 2027 his accounting profit was Rs. 3,000,000 after charging depreciation of Rs. 400,000 and a penalty of Rs. 100,000 that was imposed on him for late filing of a statement.

At the start of the year the tax written down values (WDV) of his assets were: plant and machinery Rs. 1,000,000, motor vehicle Rs. 2,000,000 and computers Rs. 150,000. During the year he bought new plant and machinery for Rs. 2,400,000 and new computers for Rs. 300,000. He has not sold any assets.

Use ACCA's tax table rates: initial allowance on plant and machinery of 25 percent of cost, and depreciation at 15 percent on the tax WDV for plant and machinery and motor vehicles and 30 percent for computers. Ignore any restriction on the cost of the motor vehicle and ignore the surcharge.
