How Writing is marked

Each task is marked on four equal criteria, each from 0 to 9:

• Task Achievement (task 1) or Task Response (task 2): did you answer the question fully, with a clear overview or position and enough support.
• Coherence and Cohesion: logical order, clear paragraphs and well controlled linking.
• Lexical Resource: the range and accuracy of your vocabulary.
• Grammatical Range and Accuracy: a mix of sentence structures, used accurately.

Writing under the minimum word count loses marks, and so does going off topic or memorising a prepared answer.
